Q1 - 2019 NewsletterDisruption in Project ManagementWednesday, 20 March 2019Q1_2019 IntroductionDear friends of PMI We are so proud that PMI Denmark´s large full-day conference 'Passion of the Profession 2019 - Disruption in Project Management' will launch on 4th of April 2019! It is the first time in many years - possibly ever - that PMI Denmark arrange something this big. A full-day conference with 8 international level speakers and 100 participants... and the conference is almost sold out! A big 'thank you' to our partners and conference sponsors Microsoft & Strategy Execution as well as all the volunteers in PMI Denmark who make this possible. If you are interested in joining, then there are still approximately 10 seats available, so now is possibly the final chance to sign up. The theme 'Disruption in Project Management' is the theme of the full-day conference, but it is also the theme for this newsletter, which is why you will be able to read several articles on this topic, e.g. webinar reviews, speaker interviews and much more. Another thing you can read about is that in March 2019 PMI Denmark held its annual General Assembly where the results for 2018 was presented and elections to the board were held. Looking at the 2018 results then we can say that the association continues to be growing in number of members, volunteers and activities, and with the election of the new board then the ambitions for 2019 is no less. You can read more about disruption in project management, the April 4th conference, and the general assembly inside this newsletter, and last but not least, do not forget that good things happen when you join PMI! See you all soon! The PMI Denmark Board

Pinker himself is an innovation consultant, digitalization expert and new media specialist. PMI Denmark Chapter: What is your biggest passion of the profession? Alexander Pinker: You just have to praise the project managers. Their ability to combine the different departments, service providers and customer requirements and efficiently move towards an objective is a great challenge and effort. The ability to work in a team, to be spontaneous and creative is required and these are not only good qualities for project managers, but also for innovators and digital leaders! Maxsen is as a former member of PMI's International Board of Directors, current member of PMI's International Strategy oversight committee and principal advisor for UNOPS. In addition to it he is a project, programme, portfolio management and corporate strategy specialist with over 25 years of experience. PMI Denmark Chapter: What is your biggest passion of the profession? Wagner Maxsen: Since the beginning of my career, I have always been fascinated by the very dynamic nature of projects and how they make sense when you understand your organization’s purpose. They exist to realize change in people’s lives. Change needed for solving problems, for taking on opportunities. Change for a better world. Project management is about being constantly faced by challenges, having to work with people to come up with ways to make things happen, to solve problems for others. It is a profession that does not know the word boredom, and which requires us to be always open to learn. I simply love what I do. Read More Q1_2019 Article: Project Manager response to unexpected eventsPMI-DK, in this newsletter, brings to you a a paper titled "The Titanic Sank, So What?: Project Manager Response to Unexpected Events". The paper written by Joana Geraldi among others is published in the International Journal of Project Management. We all agree that it is hard to predict the future, yet we think our project risk management processes would be enough to deal with all the uncertainty of the project. The paper (link below) argues that regardless of how diligent you are in your risk management processes, projects will invariably face unexpected events, from small changes in scope to unforeseen client’s bankruptcy.
We hope these considerations can help you “create their own luck”. To read more, click here. Q1_2019 Sponsor´s Article: Strategy Execution´s Top 10 Trends for 2019

This is a research project on the consequences of project-based working on the individual project workers’ productivity and well-being. The nature of project work has become more fluid, flexible and reactive, and for some project participants certainly more interesting. However, project work also can be challenging due to work overload, uncertainty and pressure. Such challenges may have negative effects on individuals involved in projects. The survey is carried out by a research team of the School of Business and Law of the University of Agder, Kristiansand (Norway). The study seeks to systematically analyze both the positive and negative implications of project work for project staff. The results of the study can be used to improve project work practices in companies by reducing potentially unsustainable project-work situations and by supporting a productive project environment. We ask for 10 minutes of your time to fill out the web-questionnaire by clicking on the following link: Read More
