DTU CBS evenbtDTU Event Announcement - Leading in the Project Society

29th and 30th August 2019 at DTU Business

Projects have become intrinsic to our lives. They permeate what we do, how we speak, how we think of our daily activities, how we construct our identities and, ultimately, who we are. In this regard, we organize our lives as a portfolio of projects – from a family vacation to a career move – and these projects shape how we are, act and relate to others. Living in the project society comes with huge benefits but also significant downsides, such as stress and the risk of ending up in depression.

Join Christian Thuesen, Anders Jensen and Joana Geraldi in this exciting course at DTU Summer Academy.

"You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe."
"You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes."
―Morpheus to Neo in "The Matrix"

This module offers a "red-pill" life-changing experience. We will explore strategies for thriving in our current society, which we call the project society, where demands are high, time is constantly running out, prioritisation is necessary, but depends on hard choices which will define what kind of person you are and will become. We will show how projects have become intrinsic to our lives, and so, we organize our lives as a portfolio of projects – from a family vacation to a career move – and these projects shape how we are, act and relate to others. Living in the project society comes with huge benefits but also significant downsides, such as stress and the risk of ending up in depression. Thus, when taking the red pill, we will illustrate how your project leadership skills could be particularly useful, not only in projects, but between projects, your private life, your career.

In this context, living in Denmark comes with a competitive edge: the ideas of a Nordic leadership styles are particularly suitable to the project society, as they understand that success often depends on the ability to innovate in an environment with high levels of ambiguity, flat organizational structures, multiple power bases, complex stakeholder landscapes, and collaboration across the value chain and networks.

The course will help you see and navigate the project society by capitalizing on the Nordic culture and management styles.
